A One-Bedroom Becomes Two in a "Traditional Glam" Manhattan Rental — House Tour

Name: Chelsey Brown and roommate
Location: Manhattan
Size: 750 square feet
Years lived in: 1.5 years, renting

Chelsey is a fiery go-getter who lives in a small Manhattan apartment with a roommate. An editor by day (for the Dr. Oz Show) and an interior designer by night, this New Yorker does it all. No really — she also got out her toolkit and tightened up some of my camera gear that got knocked around on the subway.

What Does 100 Square Feet Really Look Like?

I feel like I frequently hear from people I know that they don't have any idea what the square footage of their apartment is. Their rough estimates always seem off, making me believe they don't actually know what 500, 300, or even 100 square feet actually looks and feels like. Here, we show you just what the possibilities (and limitations) are for each of these small residential footprints.

No Drilling Required: Renter-Friendly Window Treatments That Don't Damage Walls

Most of the time, I'm okay with skirting around a landlord's rules and will happily drill holes to hang art and curtains. However, every now and then, you meet a landlord who's such a stickler, you wouldn't even dare bring a drill into the apartment. Before and After: An '80s Bathroom Gets a Classic Update

Tasha's twins were using a dark and outdated bathroom, complete with carpet (why was that ever considered a good idea?) and some very '80s materials. Calling in the professionals for the major plumbing and drywall work, but doing the rest herself, Tasha created a space that can grow with her girls and remain visually appealing for years to come.

SPONSORED POST: Before & After: A Beautiful Bathroom Makeover in Just 1 Weekend — Sponsored by Bed Bath & Beyond

It's easy to overlook the bathroom. Renovations are expensive, and most of us will put up with a less-than-ideal space until we have the money for a makeover. Still, the lack of a renovation budget didn't stop Jenna. With a full-time job, two dogs, two kids, and another on the way, she's got more than enough to handle, but she and her husband knew they wanted a better bathroom before the baby arrived.

An Art Deco Dream Apartment in Manhattan — House Tour
